Shenandoah University’s speech-language pathology graduate programs prepare you professionally for diverse clinical positions.
The Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology at Shenandoah is part of the Shenandoah University Division of Communication Sciences and Disorders, which has a mission to educate, inspire, and equip culturally responsive future speech-language pathologists, to ultimately improve the communication, swallowing, education and overall health of individuals and communities.
This program is approved by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges. Applications for Shenandoah University’s Speech-Language Pathology Program are completed and verified utilizing the Communication Science and Disorders Centralized Application Service (CSDCAS). Admission Requirements
- A completed bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 grade scale.
- Official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended (or currently attending) directly to CSDCAS.
- Prerequisites must be completed at the college level with a “B” or better before admission to the MSSLP program:
- Biological Science
- Physical Science
- Social/Behavioral Science (psychology, sociology, anthropology, public health can meet this prerequisite)
- Statistics
- Introduction to Communication Disorders
- Speech and Hearing Anatomy and Physiology
- Phonetics
- Normal Speech and Language Development
- Introduction to Audiology
- Speech Science
- Obtain a minimum of 25 hours of guided clinical observation under a certified and licensed speech-language pathologist(s) (CCC-SLP).
- Submit three letters of recommendations that indicate applicant’s ability to participate in the rigors of graduate school as well as the traits applicants possess to be a future allied health practitioner. This includes persons that were the applicant’s: former or current professors, research supervisors, clinical supervisors or ASHA certified Speech pathologist that can speak to your characteristics, skills and abilities.
- Applicants may be asked to respond in writing to one or two questions that reflect their interest and goals in the profession.
- Video Interview: Please make a short 2-3 minute video explaining why you would be a good fit for the Shenandoah MS Speech-Language Pathology program. You should record your video on Youtube, and mark it as unlisted. Once the video is uploaded to Youtube and unlisted please add it to your CSDCAS application in the interview question.
- Receive all immunizations required for students in Shenandoah University’s School of Health Professions programs, unless you have an approved exemption. The exemption request form is available at storesoo.com.
- International students may be required to meet additional requirements.
Visit Options
The Office of Graduate Admissions offers campus visits, program-specific webinars and information sessions throughout the year. These events include time to speak with graduate admissions representatives and program faculty or deans.
